RKI currently has a temporary hold on the CSA intrinsic safety approvals for the GX-3R and the GX-3R Pro. This temporary hold is preventing RKI from shipping any GX-3R or GX-3R Pro instruments. At this point, the hold could possibly extend into the month of November.

The GX-3R & GX-3R Pro both have CSA and ATEX intrinsic safety approvals. The CSA approval is based on Riken Keiki’s ATEX approval. This temporary hold is related to the ATEX approval, which prompted the hold on RKI's CSA labeled GX-3R and GX-3R Pro.

There are no design deficiencies with GX-3R or GX-3R Pro. Both products have successfully completed all necessary testing and evaluations to be certified as intrinsically safe. No other testing or evaluations are needed for either product. There are also no quality issues with either product. RKI continues to have a low warranty return rate for both of these products.

Once the temporary hold is lifted, instruments will immediately start shipping from RKI. As many of you are already aware, RKI has had a growing backorder on the GX-3R and this temporary hold has only increased our backlog of orders. RKI will update the scheduled shipping dates for all open orders and communicate the new dates with all customers.
